Invitation to p-GRAD, the post-Graduate Research Arkímedes Day

Arkímedes is organizing a research day during which you can showcase your work and make it shine. We all have brilliant ideas but sometimes it is necessary to put it out and meet people from outside of the box. Previous events have shown that there can be new ideas and collaborations forming during this kind of events.

So, Arkímedes would like to bring together the forces in research and
show what we can do and already work on. The p-GRAD will take place on
the 16th of October 2015 as a half day event after lunch (time and
location TBA).

In order to participate we ask you to send us your application until the
14th of September. What can do present and how? Good question!
We would like to make it fun and exciting for all, so we think that you

•   your research project,
•   research data,
•   research question,
•   or even just the concept you are working on

in a short presentation. This student presentation will be 10 to 15 min
long and no presentation slides are allowed. We will provide whiteboards
and pens. The rest is up to your creativity and imagination. Of course
you can also present visual media, or in a more traditional way and
bring a poster, but we encourage you to think out of the box and let us
know how you would like to present your work. There will be prices for
the best student presentation.

We invite all PhD students and Post-Docs to participate. Therefore we
call upon every department to announce one PhD student to help Arkímedes
to organize this event. Part of the things we need to do is setting up
the event before the days and during the event.

In addition to this, we think it would be good to have you organize a
fun event during the day. We have an open slot for your ideas. Maybe a
pub quiz at the University bar, a movie screening, or a speaker you
would like to put forward? We are open for your ideas, but we need your
help to make it happen! The main point of this event is to show what we
are capable to do and inspire others to collaborate.

Please send your application to participate, your idea for the open
slot, or your suggestion to help out by answering the online form (link
below) – applications should include a title of
your work, a short description of what it is about, and the format and
media you would like to present in (see form online link below).

We are looking forward to seeing you
