The role of the Graduate School of the University of Iceland is to ensure and enrich the quality of doctoral programmes at the University of Iceland and to promote their development in accordance with the decisions of the University Council.
The Graduate School follows set standards and requirements for the quality of doctoral programmes at the University of Iceland aiming to keep graduate programmes at the University of Iceland in step with recognised international quality requirements.
Schools and faculties of the University organise and bear academic responsibility for doctoral programmes at the University. The Graduate School has overall supervision of doctoral programmes and works closely with schools and faculties, the Quality Control Commission of the University Council and joint administration. The Graduate School is thus a forum of consultation and cooperation on the programmes within the university and the contact for collaborating parties in Iceland and abroad.
